Design Awards
LABC BUILDING EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2011
PRIDE PARK, DERBY
MAY 2011
Once again we have been successful in the LABC East Midlands Region Building Excellence Awards, winning first place in the Best Social Housing Development category for our work on Waterloo Housing Association's Dennis Street, Hugglescote scheme, in conjunction with Lychgate Homes Ltd. and NWLDC Building Control.

The winning design achieved the seamless integration of a new sustainable social housing scheme into a village location in the vicinity of a Grade 2 Listed Building, following the demolition of a Victorian Baptist Chapel. The Chapel was home to a colony of bats who were successfully rehoused in a free standing roost of innovative design and considerable interest.

The presentation of the award took place on 20th May 2011, and David Granger commented "We are delighted that the high standard of our design and the skill of our team have been recognised in this way."
Lychgate Stone House Award
Lychgate AwardThe Local Authority Building Control East Midlands Built in Quality Awards ceremony has taken place at the Village Hotel, Chilwell. Lychgate Homes Ltd. and David Granger Architectural Design Ltd. gained third place in the 'Best Conversion' category for their successful project at Stone House in Swannington, Leicestershire.

We wouldn’t normally enter into the ‘letters from satisfied customers’ field of advertising. Obviously we do receive thanks and appreciation from clients who have been happy with the individual professional service they have received, but it is rare to come across an accolade such as the one which came to our notice from an anonymous source very recently. An independent professional, surveying one of our ‘full service’ conversion projects, was moved to append the following to his survey notes. We do not feel it unreasonable to quote his comments on the work of our company in full.

“It is infrequently that we inspect a property which has been the subject of total development in the form of a conversion, where the works executed are well above the national average. I am convinced in part that this is due to the fact that a well known designer by the name of David Granger of The Old Dairy, Mill Street, Packington, drew up the plans and supervised the detail. We see many of his successful undertakings. There are no deficiencies of any consequence in this instance; there are areas of qualification in regard to the way the works are executed. I have no hesitation in commending you to the purchase and believe the price in point of fact is somewhat conservative.”
