Floods | 01/02/2007
From being an isolated occurrence the flooding of Mill Street has become quite commonplace in the soaking summer of 2007. The most recent deluge was in June and happened very suddenly. Our small stream - the Gilwiskaw (but locally known as the 'Gill-o-Whisky') - failed to cope with a watery onslaught and staff cars were trapped in the car park. 'Home time' was several hours later than usual ! Those with wellies made it to the village pub to wait out the storm: - before either collecting the car when the water receded, or going home by taxi !
