In 2008, North West Leicestershire District Council launched its first design initiative – the North West Leicestershire Design Awards – to try and improve the quality of new developments across the district. We attended the initial launch meeting and have worked closely with NWLDC in the last decade to try and achieve high design standards on all projects in the area.
On 21st September this year Mark and Simon attended the ‘Good Design for North West Leicestershire: Ten Years on’ awards event, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport.

The purpose of the event was to present awards to some Commended Developments as well as making a ‘People’s Choice Award’ – which was a development selected by public vote.
We’re delighted to have received four awards for the following development schemes:
Priorfields/Upper Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch.
Developer: Lychgate Homes Ltd
High-quality detailing to three new homes, with the corner building relating to both Priorfields and Upper Packington Road.
Amberlea, Upper Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch.
Developer: Lychgate Homes Ltd
High-quality design on this individual corner building relating to both Upper Packington Road and Leicester Road.
Pear Tree Mews, Breedon.
Developer: Alexander Hastings Ltd
Sensitive infill development; sensitive restoration of existing building. Carefully considered approach to the arrangement of buildings around a courtyard space. High-quality materials and careful detailing.
Cademan Street, Whitwick.
Developer: Bonser Building Contractors Ltd
A traditionally inspired line of cottages that relate well to the street, set behind a stone wall. The cottages gently pivot to follow the line of the street.
