Staff Spotlight: Alex Ensor

We would like to introduce our administrative assistant Alex Ensor.

In our latest Staff Spotlight, we talk to our Administrative Assistant, Alex Ensor.

The chances are, if you’ve spoken to us on the telephone, you will have talked to Alex. Here, she explains her role in our client projects…

When did you start working at David Granger Architectural Design?

I started working here as the cleaner in July 2014, doing four hours a week at The Old Dairy in Packington. A year later I was allowed to try working in administration, using my computer knowledge in the work environment, and I was encouraged to learn new skills to provide me with a career, rather than just a job!

What does your role involve?

My role involves answering the phone to clients; providing them with their first point of contact with the business and creating an excellent first impression. I also type letters and reports, sort through emails, fill out planning applications and other general administration work.

I have also been able to go out on surveys, providing me with an insight into the nature of what we do as a business, which was something I enjoyed.

How does your role fit into the journey of a client’s project through the company?

I will more than likely be the person to answer an initial phone or email enquiry, which would then go through to David. I write most of the letters that go out to clients, and I’m also the person responding to emails coming through to the admin address.

I also submit some of our client planning applications, which has considerably improved my knowledge of the planning system and how it works.

What makes you proud of working at David Granger Architectural Design?

I am proud to work here as, in my opinion, the service provided is very high. The staff are lovely, and you can see every day how hard everyone works. Everyone is like a big team and helps each other with anything they can.

We also do lots of charity days as well, taking part in Red Nose Day, Christmas jumper day, Jeans for Genes, to name but a few. I was involved in organising our Christmas Raffle to raise money for a defibrillator at our offices, as well as making a donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

What do you do in your downtime?

I have been married to Rhys for nearly three years. We have an 18-month-old son, and any downtime I have is usually spent with my family, which also include two small lively dogs!

What is the best customer experience you’ve had?

Any client that thanks us is a pleasant experience. We’ve had gifts and cake and even champagne brought in for us all before, which is a lovely gesture.

What do you enjoy most about working for David Granger Architectural Design?

It has to be the staff – everyone is so friendly, and there isn’t a day that I don’t laugh here. It is also lovely to see the results of client projects from start to finish, and what everyone in the office has achieved.
